Make a lot of gold with these dragonflight recipes that will remain great in the war within using souls of 4 different types to create toys and pets to sell on the auction house.

With the war within getting very close, I like to look at items from Dragonflight that will still be good for the future. The items showcased today should be. First of all, they are collectibles which makes them timeless. Secondly, less people will have access to the recipes since they become forgotten and lastly, very few have the knowledge on how to get the crafting materials for these recipes. Let me show you why these items can make you tons of gold now and in the war within!
Elemental souls
Elemental souls come in 4 different items. Fiery souls, Frosty souls, Earthen souls and Airy souls. They are used to craft a pet and 4 different expensive toys. You can also craft some bind on pickup gear with it but we won’t focus on that for today.
To collect them, you need to apply a debuff to specific mobs in the world. To apply the debuff, you’ll need an item called the Zapthrottle soul inhaler. Once you kill the mob with the applied debuff, you will get a soul matching the type of elemental slayed.
To “capture” the soul, you will need an empty soul cage. The inhaler and the cage can both be bought on the auction house. You only need one inhaler but the cage gets consumed for each soul captured.
If you get interrupted during the 4 second cast of the inhaler, you will need to wait 45 seconds to try it again. To facilitate the process, find the ability that can stun you from each type of mob. Once known, cast the inhaler after that cast.
The zapthrottle soul inhaler is crafted by engineers. Fun fact : I made 939 000 gold profit selling 291 zapthrottle soul inhalers in the last 10 months! The cages are crafted from jewelcrafters and are usually not super profitable to craft.
Docile versus encaged souls
When you capture the soul, it will be called an “enraged soul”. This is a container that can be opened. DO NOT open it. This contains awakened elements but none of the good stuff that we want. If you wait 15 minutes, it will become a “docile soul”. The docile soul is a container which has the bind on pickup material that we need to craft some really cool stuff.
The specific mobs
Time constraints
During the 15 minutes of wait time for an encaged soul to become a docile soul, you cannot capture another soul of the same type. Also, if you look at your inhaler, you’ll see that you cannot use it again for 5 minutes. With that in mind, you can either get 1 soul every 15 minutes if it’s the same type or 1 soul every 5 minutes from 3 different types. ( Getting a second inhaler will not bypass the cooldown )
But that would be very inefficient! Those times will continue running out if you aren’t logged in. This means that you can log out and do other things for 15 minutes and come back to get another soul.
This also means that you can rotate alts to get more souls. I am personally able to rotate 8 characters in those 15 minutes. That means I can get 32 souls per hour! You definitely don’t have to go this hard. Having 1 of 2 characters parked at the soul locations can be enough for your crafts. Choose your pace!
Alvin the anvil
Alvin the anvil is a pet that sells very quickly for a very specific reason. As the name says, the pet can act as an anvil! Instead of finding an anvil in the world, you can simply summon this pet! It only costs one earthen soul to craft!
That being said, the recipe is a huge pain to get! It drops from a rare in the obsidian citadel and in the Neltharus dungeon. It has an extremely low drop rate but can be sold on the auction house. I personally bought mine for 580 000 gold 196 days ago. Here is the data of my sales since my purchase.
B.B.F fist
This is a jewelcrafting toy. You can obtain the recipe from the barter bricks system which is a 10.1 feature in Zaralek Cavern.
Portable party platter
The portable party platter is an engineering toy. I was part of a few people in the secret finding discord to find how to get the recipe. To obtain it, you’ll need 2 characters.
Character 1 : A mage with cooking. The mage will need the rare quality cooking tool and a dessert recipe. You will also need food that can give you a well fed buff ( most cooking foods )
Character 2 : Any class with Dragonflight engineering skill at 50. You will need one engineer’s ink and one light parchment in your inventory. ( this is the character that will receive the recipe )
Technically, it’s possible to get the recipe with only one character as long as it meets every requirement. To get the recipe, the mage needs to get a well fed buff by eating food. Once the mage gets the well fed buff, it will create a dessert. At the sight of the dessert creation, the engineer should now receive the recipe! Centralized precipitation emitter and environmental emulator
You can get 2 more engineering toys recipes that use souls. The centralized precipitation emitter is from mechanical mind (10) > Novelties (5). The environmental emulator is from mechanical mind (10) > novelties (25). In other words, you can get both recipes for a total of 35 knowledge.
I don’t have sales data for these 2 toys. However, you can see their sale rate and price being decent. If you have access to the other recipes, I would prioritize those. Nevertheless, you can always check the calculator below to see what are the best items to craft on your realm!

Bonus pets
There is another great benefit to farming souls. Pets! Every time you open a docile soul, you have a chance to get the pet linked with the type of soul. In the america region, the region market price of the pets is 120 000 gold! They have roughly a 2% chance to drop from each docile soul according to wowhead.
So far, I’ve made over 3 million gold from these 3 items and about 500 000 from the pets. It’s absolutely viable right now! As for the war within, I have no reason to believe these crafts will stop being desirable. I’m planning to keep selling these items for years to come. I think it’s an amazing time to farm the souls as we probably won’t have time in the war within.
